The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has called on officers and soldiers to make the most of the newly upgraded facilities within their cantonments to ensure effective discharge of their duties.
This message was conveyed by retired Maj.-Gen. Benson Akinroluyo, who represented Lagbaja during the inauguration of the remodeled Soldiers’ Club and Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess on Friday at the Minna Military Cantonment.
“These facilities have undergone significant remodeling and are now equipped with state-of-the-art amenities aimed at enhancing regimentation, an essential aspect of on-the-job training in the Nigerian Army,” Lagbaja stated.
He emphasized the importance of the remodeled spaces, urging military personnel to take full ownership and make proper use of the improved atmosphere for relaxation and camaraderie, which in turn would boost morale.
Maj.-Gen. Kevin Aligbe, Commander of the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Nigerian Army, expressed optimism that the upgraded amenities would promote better regimentation and strengthen discipline among army personnel. He praised the improvements, noting that they would enhance unity within the military.
Aligbe also commended COAS Lagbaja for allocating the necessary funds to complete the remodeling, acknowledging the positive impact the facilities would have on the overall welfare and morale of the soldiers.
Master Warrant Officer Sanda Kasimu, President of the Mess Committee, also expressed his gratitude to the Commander of TRADOC for his leadership and dedication to the welfare of the soldiers. He reiterated the significant role the new facilities would play in boosting morale.
The event was attended by senior officers from Army Headquarters and Departmental Chiefs from TRADOC Headquarters, all of whom praised the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the professional development and welfare of Nigerian Army personnel.
